WOMEN HYGIENE DRIVE UNDER CSR INITIATIVE

More than 300 million, women and girls in India do not have access to safe menstrual hygiene products, endangering their health, curtailing their education and putting their livelihoods at risk. At least 23 percent of girls in India drop out of school when they start menstruating and the rest miss an average of five days during each monthly menstrual period between the ages of 12 and 18 years, according to WSSCC, (Geneva-based Water Supply & Sanitation Collaborative Council). This Initiative is the outcome of findings arising from various rural and society needs.

The initial effort is to undertake  awareness in schools, Colleges, Hostels, and communities, that included menstrual hygiene and create awareness on adopting hygienic practices during the menstrual periods. This awareness effort includes distribution of sanitary pads and advising them on usage and disposal of used pads.

Further this initiative will be taken ahead along-with solution for making Sanitary Napkins available thru Automated Sanitary Napkin vending machines and also providing Incinerators for disposal of used sanitary pads.

Local women/ women groups can be trained and supported for operating/maintaining these  sanitary napkins vending machines, which will serve the double purpose of livelihood opportunities to the women and also make the product available to the audience, enabling them to adopt hygienic practices.
